This time of year is always a fairly good indication as to what lays ahead in terms of wedding bookings. January and February generally are quite busy months for enquiries. Although most couples book their wedding photographer well in advance of their big day, maybe even 18 months, there are still those who leave it until the last minute. While these are a great surprise and often a welcome addition to the growing list of bookings, more often than not, the couple can be disappointed when they find that their special date is unavailable. I was more than surprise and disappointed, that last week we had two couples, both who wanted to book us for July 14th, all in the space af three days! Unfortunately we were already booked. While last minute bookings are pretty much available with most wedding photographers in out-of-season months and midweek days, I’m afraid the obvious summer months are often less forthcoming.

An abundance of wedding fairs is the norm at this time of year,  most of which take advantage of the newly engaged-over-christmas couples. We’re exhibiting at four more wedding fairs before the end of March after having attended both the Holiday Inn at Filton, which was organised by Wedding World, and Berwick Lodge in Bristol last Sunday. Berwick Lodge is a fairly new venue and after hosting their first wedding fair, all I can say from first impressions is that those who book a wedding there will not be disappointed. A very oppulent, but at the same time intimate venue, this country hotel is bound to please.

Congratulations to Sarah and Simon on their engagement and who’s wedding we will be attending in June. Also Sarah and Simon, who I met on Monday, I hope we have an opportunity of photographing their wedding at Leigh Court in May 2013. For those who may still be looking for a Somerset wedding photographer, then please call and take advantage of our brand new, revised prices.

Sunday saw us at the Holiday Inn wedding fair in Bristol, which was organised by pat Poole of Wedding World, which turned out to be a great success! Strangely, it was not quite as well attended as usual, however, I spoke to far more couples than I normally do and made a booking for June this year. So, welcome aboard to Richard and Karen, I’ll look forward to seeing you both again closer to your big day.

If you’re thinking about a photographer for your wedding then please pick up the phone for a chat, I really am very friendly, lol. If you’d like to visit us at one of the other Somerset wedding fairs we’ll be attending over the coming months, then drop by and say hi, it would be great to meet you.

We will be exhibiting at:
Berwick Lodge, Bristol on Sunday 22nd January. Organised by Love Actually weddings
Clevedon Hall, Sunday 19th February. I will not be personally in attendance as I will be at….
Orchardleigh, near Frome, 19th February
Sherborne Castle, 25th March, The Wedding and Fine Events Show, hosted by Wedding Whispers. For full details email info@weddingandfineeventsshow.co.uk or call Lynne Scott 01934 751120.

Just a quick wish of good cheer for the New Year to all our couples past, present and , hopefully, future!

No sooner is Christmas upon us and I have to start thinking about wedding fairs in the New Year. This year I am looking at attending five or six in the first three months, arguably the most busy times for the wedding industry. We have found that January and February tend to signify just how busy the rest of the year is going to be for weddings, so I’m keeping fingers crossed for a busy time meeting wth couples in the next few months. Currently, we have four Somerset wedding fairs booked.

January 8th will see us exhibiting at our usual January venue at the Holiday Inn, Filton, from 10.30 until 16.00. This is always a very busy event and one you should really try to attend if possible. It’s run by Pat Poole of Wedding World and is definitley one of the better wedding fairs in Bristol. On January 22nd, we will be attending Berwick Lodge in Bristol, a venue which will be hosting their first wedding fair, which is being organised by Love Actually Wedding Fairs. Another great fair to visit is Clevedon Hall, a really elegant old house, five minutes from junction 19 of the M5. This is taking place on Sunday 19th February from 11 until 16.00 and is another great event. At the moment we will be attending another couple of wedding fairs in Somerset but our fourth wedding fair is at Sherbourne Castle, on 25th March from 10.30 until 16.00. This again is a venue that is hosting a fair organised by Lynne Scott of Wedding Whispers. For more information about this fair, why not visit http://www.weddingandfineeventsshow.co.uk/ or call Lynne on 01934 751120.

If you’re out and about on any of those days, why not drop in and say hello, we’d love to see you!

Although this year has been a testing time for somerset wedding photographers and we have been no exception, we have nevertheless managed to maintain a healthy throughput of bookings. 2012 is looking slightly better than 2011, so who knows, maybe things are turning around for all of us. Welcome aboard to Lucy and David and also Janet and Arnie who booked their weddings with us this week.

As a little taster for those couples who may be contemplating picking up the phone for a chat about their wedding, here are a few photos from some of our 2011 weddings.

Chrissie Mills, who married Paul at St Audries Park, in May, is the Winner of our brides photo competition. Chrissie managed to gain a staggering 85 ‘likes’ on our Facebook page. Erica Tindall was also very successful and managed second place with 48 ‘likes.’ All in all the competition was a great success and generated more than 225 visits and ‘likes’ to our facebook page with an increase in traffic to our main wedding photography website.

Monday mornings… urgh, why are so many Mondays wet? Ah well, I guess we shouldn’t complain, as we all had some wonderful weather over the weekend. Which probably helped to get people out of the house yesterday and visit the Clevedon Hall wedding fayre, where we were exhibiting. I have to admit that it was a little disappointing to see fewer brides attending than previously, however, we nevertheless had a great day and spoke to a fair number of potential brides. No wedding fayres now until January, so we shall have to wait with baited breath and see what the new year has in store for us all.

I have just started our first photo competition for all my faceboook brides. If you have been a bride of our’s and would like to enter, simply become a Facebook friend or fan and drop me a line. I will then upload a photo of yours and that’s it! All you then have to do is ask as many of your friends to ‘like’ your photo on the Howard Keith Photography fan page  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Howard-Keith-Photography/133365023347405
The bride with the most likes is the winner, simples. The prize is one of our beautiful, glass bevelled 16″x12″ frames with a hand finished print of your choice from your wedding, worth £78. If you have not been a bride and would like to take a look at the contestants then you can still visit my fan page and cast your vote.

PS. Don’t forget, we’re at Clevedon Hall wedding fayre this coming Sunday 16th, 11-4pm. See you there…

On Sunday we are exhibiting at the Clevedon Hall wedding fayre. I can promise it will be a great day out. One of the better fayres that we attend. Why not come along and say hi.
